Remember that theme is a message about life that is learned over the course of a text. When a theme is universal, it is a concept broad enough to apply to people regardless of time, place, ethic background, nationality, age...etc. Additionally we discussed the six types of conflict. They are individual vs. self, individual, society, nature, technology, or supernatural. We learned about these conflicts because these are struggles that commonly occur in texts and help to advance the theme. Lastly, I gave you nine broad concepts that would help us to further analyze theme. See below:
You will be responsible for giving me an example of a type of conflict shown in the text as well as identifying how one of the broader concepts is at work in the text. Good luck!
